Go back to sleep!

Have you ever been so tired you just didn't care any more?

I have!  Quite often, actually.

The other day I had worked a night shift and then come home and worked in my stay-at-home-wife-and-mom capacity, so by the time bedtime came I was rather exhausted....I abandoned my husband to watch TV on the couch by himself and went to bed.  About 3:00 in the morning, the bed began to shake and it sounded like someone was trying to break into the house....with sledge hammers and ice picks!  I picked my head up off my pillow and looked around.

What were my thoughts during this home invasion, you ask?  I'll tell you....

My dog is lying in his bed by my side of the bed...."useless dog!"(I love my dog, but he's useless!)

I look through the door of my room into the living room....just in time to see my husband cross the room and head for the back door..."go get 'em, Tiger."

Then I woke up at 7:30 the next morning...."I wonder if Lee's ok?"  He's taking a shower..."oh, good!"

My point is, I probably should have been a bit more concerned about the situation as it was happening than I was.  But I went back to sleep without any problems for two reasons:

1).  I was too tired to deal with it.

2).  My husband was all over it.  I trust him.  I've seen him defend his family before...I have nothing to worry about.

Have you ever been there?  Have you ever been there in your Spiritual life?  Too tired to care.  I probably should do something.  Oh!  Wait!  God's starting to move!...goodnight.

Psa 116:7    Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

I don't know if I'm explaining this right, but....the whole experience just reminded me of how sometimes we fight and work and slave away and....and....and...and       And then we are just too tired to do anything anymore.  And then we get a chance to rest knowing God has it under control.  We've seen Him work before.  He doesn't need me...I'm going back to sleep.

Now if only we could remember this when we're not exhausted!

P.S.  It was a Javelina...BIGGEST ONE EVER, I'm guessing.  With tusks as big as an elephant's!  Did some pretty gnarly damage to the side of our house.  As soon as we (I say "we"!  Hahahah!)...as soon as LEE catches it, you're all invited over for a pork roast wrapped in bacon!!!
